Police say Fayette woman slashed man for drinking her beer

A Fayette County woman was jailed this week after allegedly slashing a man with a pair of scissors and biting him because he drank one of her beers while she napped, police said.

State police in Uniontown charged Tracey Lee Giffin, 45, of North Union Township with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment for the incident about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Police said they were called to Giffin's home on Whyle Avenue for a report of a domestic dispute. Troopers were met by a 59-year-old man who had blood on his chest and stomach from several cuts, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Troopers said the man had suffered several cuts on his neck, chest and head.

He told troopers the couple had been drinking earlier in the day and Giffin had gone to bed.

“She had gotten up and was upset that he had drank one of her beers,” Trooper Patrick Biddle wrote.

Biddle alleges the pair began arguing and Giffin grabbed a pair of scissors and allegedly slash at the man, then bit his arms.

Police said the victim had teeth marks on his arms and left thumb.

Giffin was ordered held in the county jail after failing to post $5,000 bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 31 before District Judge Wendy Dennis.
