Putin, Pezeshkian to discuss situation in Middle East, Syria, South Caucasus - Kremlin's press service
MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will discuss the developments in the Middle East, including in Syria and in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, at talks in Moscow on January 17, the Russian president's press service said in a statement on Thursday ahead of the two leaders' meeting.
"The upcoming highest-level talks are expected to touch on the key issues of global and regional agendas of mutual interest, including the developments in the Middle East, including in Syria and in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone," the statement said.
The presidents will also discuss the situation in South Caucasus and the state of affairs around Iran's nuclear program, it said.
"Russian-Iranian relations are on a rise, intensively developing under the principles of mutual respect and due regard for interests," the statement said.
Upon conclusion of the Putin-Pezeshkian talks the two states will sign a new bilateral agreement, regarding comprehensive strategic partnership, it said.
"The document reflects the new level reached by the Russian-Iranian ties [and] outlines the legal frameworks for their subsequent development in all directions in the long run," the statement said.
