CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Chippewa County community is banding together to help a family who lost their home in a fire on Christmas Day.

Fire crews responded to the house on Johnson Road in Rudyard Wednesday afternoon.

Crews on scene say the structure was fully engulfed in flames.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the house appears to be a total loss and the family of six will have many needs.

A group of volunteers from the Chippewa County Victim Services Unit was on scene to assist with immediate needs after the fire.

I would like to personally thank all of our Chippewa County Sheriff's Office VSU advocates who responded today.
It takes special people to give up their time and volunteer to help those in need, especially on Christmas, officials wrote on the sheriff's office Facebook page.

If you would like to help, the family contact is Christin Mckerchie and if you would like to donate: GoFundMe.
