Unruly passenger forces flight bound for Vegas to divert to Kansas City airport
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An unruly passenger on a flight bound for Las Vegas forced travelers to land in Kansas City as they waited for more than 2 hours on the tarmac.
Delta Airlines tells KCTV5 News that on Monday, Dec. 23, a flight that originated in Cincinnati was diverted to the Kansas City International Airport before it could make its destination in Las Vegas.
Airline officials reported the flight departed from the Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky International Airport on time, however, an unruly customer had to be removed from the flight.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior and will work with law enforcement authorities to that end,” an airline spokesperson said on Thursday. “We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel.”
Flight Aware indicated that the flight took off just after 7 a.m. but was forced to land at KCI about 30 minutes later. The forced landing added more than 2 hours to the flight of travelers headed to Las Vegas. The plane finally arrived at its final destination just after 11:35 a.m. on Monday.
Officials at KCI confirmed that the plane landed uneventfully and departed around 10:45 a.m. the same day.
