ALL RIGHT CHRIS, THANK YOU. DEVELOPING TONIGHT, THE MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO ASSASSINATE PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP IN WEST PALM BEACH IS NOW FACING A NEW STATE CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER. THE CHARGE STEMS FROM A SERIOUS CRASH THAT HAPPENED ALONG I-95, AS AUTHORITIES WERE TRYING TO TAKE RYAN ROUTH INTO CUSTODY IN MARTIN COUNTY. THIS IS VIDEO OF THAT SCENE. INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER TERRI PARKER JOINING US NOW. AND TERRI OFFICIALS SAY A SIX GIRL WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THAT CRASH. YES. TRAGICALLY SO. RYAN ROUTH ALREADY FACES FEDERAL CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO ASSASSINATE PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP. BUT NOW THE STATE SAYS HIS DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO FLEE LAW ENFORCEMENT ALSO LEFT A YOUNG GIRL FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE. ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHLEY MOODY SAYS PURSUING THESE NEW CHARGES WASN’T EASY, POINTING TO SIGNIFICANT RESISTANCE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. RYAN ROUTH, ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTING TO ASSASSINATE PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP IN SEPTEMBER, NOW FACES A STATE CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED FELONY MURDER. THE CHARGE STEMS FROM A CRASH ON I-95, SEEN HERE DURING RUTH’S ATTEMPTED GETAWAY, WHICH LEFT A SIX YEAR OLD GIRL CRITICALLY INJURED. AS THE STOP WAS MADE AND TRAFFIC WAS SLOW. AN ACCIDENT HAPPENED AND A LITTLE GIRL WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND ALMOST DIED. ACCORDING TO INVESTIGATORS, ROUTH FLED TRUMP’S WEST PALM BEACH GOLF COURSE AFTER BEING SPOTTED WITH A RIFLE BY SECRET SERVICE AGENTS. THE HIGH SPEED PURSUIT NORTHBOUND ON I-95 FORCED DEPUTIES TO SHUT DOWN TRAFFIC, TRIGGERING A CRASH THAT SEVERELY INJURED THE YOUNG GIRL. WE FELT COMPELLED TO SEEK JUSTICE ON HER BEHALF AND HER FAMILY. THAT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. MOODY SAYS STATE PROSECUTORS FACE RESISTANCE FROM FEDERAL AUTHORITIES WHILE INVESTIGATING THE CASE. WE IMMEDIATELY WERE CONFRONTED WITH A LACK OF WILLINGNESS TO ALLOW US ACCESS TO THE CRIME SCENE, AN UNWILLINGNESS TO PROVIDE EVIDENCE THAT WAS COLLECTED, AN UNWILLINGNESS TO ALLOW US TO ACCOMPANY WITNESS INTERVIEWS. MOODY SAYS THE GOVERNMENT CITED THE NEED TO PROTECT THE CASE AND NATIONAL SECURITY. HOWEVER, MOODY SAYS SHE AND GOVERNOR DESANTIS BELIEVE ROUTH SHOULD BE PROSECUTED ON STATE CHARGES FOR SERIOUS CRIMES COMMITTED IN THIS STATE. SO THEY MOVED FORWARD, NOT JUST ON THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION CHARGES, BUT TO PURSUE JUSTICE FOR THE LITTLE GIRL, THEY SAY ROUTH, ALMOST KILLED, OBTAINED AN ARREST WARRANT FOR ATTEMPTED FELONY MURDER FOR RYAN ROUTH. THE WOULD BE ASSASSIN TO THE PRESIDENT ELECT, DONALD J. TRUMP. SO ROUTH HAS ALREADY PLEADED NOT GUILTY TO ALL THOSE CHARGES. THE FEDERAL ONES, AND REMAINS IN FEDERAL CUSTODY TONIGHT. MEANWHILE, THE STATE SAYS IT WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR ACCOUNTABILITY, BOTH FOR THE INJURED LITTLE GIRL AND FOR THE FAIL

On Wednesday, Attorney General Ashley Moody, alongside the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol, announced these charges, saying the state of Florida, under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis, filed a suit back in October.
An executive order was ultimately made to begin investigating state crimes surrounding those specific events.
Routh already faces federal charges for attempted assassination, assault, and firearms offenses.
However, because a young girl was also nearly killed in the process, the state decided to announce bringing on these new charges Wednesday.
“As a result of that, we felt compelled to seek justice on her behalf and her family that will never be the same as they cope with her injuries,” Moody said.
The affidavit is 18 pages long and will be released soon.
Routh is currently held in Miami on federal charges, but he will be brought to Martin County to face the new charges.
It is still unclear when this will happen, as it will be up to the courts.
