HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) — An undocumented immigrant from Mexico is behind bars, accused of breaking into a Hobe Sound woman’s home and sexually assaulting her at gunpoint. He was apparently on his way back to her home when he was arrested Monday night, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reported.
Jose Gregorio Flores Villa, 31, was arrested just 24 hours after the attack. Deputies say he wasn’t just dangerous — he was determined.
Investigators believe Flores Villa was on his way back to the victim’s home Monday when deputies tracked him down and arrested him.
Video released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies with guns drawn as they took him into custody.
Detectives say the victim, who had known Flores Villa for about a year, came forward earlier that day. She told deputies he broke into her home Sunday night, pointed a gun at her, and assaulted her.
“These types of cases, they're the most urgent. We don't need pedophiles and predators like this on our streets. So whether they're undocumented or American citizens, there's no room for them in society,” said Yesenia Carde, a Lieutenant with MCSO Criminal Investigations Division.
Deputies tracked Flores Villa’s car on the interstate heading south and followed him as he exited at Bridge Road, the closest exit to the victim’s home.
“There was really no other reason for him to be in that area,” said Carde.
Detectives say they acted quickly, arresting Flores Villa without incident. Immigration authorities have placed a detainer on him.

In October, Flores Villa was Baker Acted by the Sheriff’s Office, adding to his troubling history.
“For the victim, she was relieved that we were able to apprehend him before he got back there. We don't know what he could have been capable of at that point. He was obviously obsessed with her,” said Carde.
Flores Villa is now facing multiple charges, including sexual assault, burglary with assault, and driving without a license.
He is being held without bond at the Martin County Jail.
