IRON BEAM is a 100kW class High Energy Laser Weapon System (HELWS) that is expected to become the first operational system in its class. It quickly and effectively engages and neutralizes a wide array of threats from a range of hundreds of meters to several kilometers. Engaging at the speed of light, IRON BEAM has an unlimited magazine, with almost zero cost per interception, and causes minimal collateral damage. Complementing RAFAEL’s IRON DOME, it can be integrated with a range of platforms and can become part of any multilayer defense system. RAFAEL is considered a global leader in the field, developing Directed Energy systems including HEL systems for over 30 years. The company works closely with Israel’s Defense Ministry and serves as the HEL National Center for Excellence and the National Lethality Lab.

Main Capabilities

HEL Laser Defense

IRON BEAM rapidly engages and neutralizes a variety of threats – including small and short-range ballistic threats such as small-caliber mortars, rockets, artillery, and UAVs of various sizes – with pinpoint accuracy. Operational up to several kilometers, the system uses an unlimited magazine at almost zero cost per intercept, with very limited collateral damage. The system is designed to protect maneuvering forces, strategic assets, and urban areas multiple threats.

Complementary Air Defense

RAFAEL’s powerful HEL systems can complement any multilayer defense system, with proven interceptions of ATGMs, mortars, and UAVs as well as fast maneuvering and tracking. The company is a pioneer in the field, with over three decades of experience in DE – achieving breakthroughs enablingdevelopment of a complete HEL system. development weapon system. RAFAEL serves as the National Laser Warfare Center of Excellence. and the National HEL Lethality Infrastructure. Working closely with the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the company was selected as the Prime Contractor for the development of IRON BEAM.

LITE BEAM

LITE BEAM is a 7.5kW HEL interceptor for C-mUAVs and ground targets such as IEDs and UXOs. It can be integrated with any detection or C-UAV system, neutralizing targets from a distance of a few 100 meters to up to 2000 meters. The first proven prototype is already available.
