WINTHROP (WGME) -- The Trump administration is looking into whether a Canadian electric bus company committed fraud when it gave Winthrop Public Schools electric buses that have had repeated problems.
The superintendent says she met with an agent from the EPA in late January to see whether any fraud occurred by Lion Electric, the company Winthrop schools received the buses from.
In February last year, the town's transportation director says he lost steering and braking in one of the electric buses and had to strong-arm steer into a snowbank to avoid going through an intersection.
The superintendent says all four buses will remain off the road for the time being.
