NEW DETAILS: Tucson Police identify person killed in south side shooting

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Tucson Police Department has released new information about a shooting death on the city’s south side.
The TPD says officers responded to the home in the 100 block of east Elvado Road about 1 p.m. on July 4.
That area is just west of the airport.
Police say they found 31-year-old Freddy Wayne Batt, Jr. with gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The TPD says detectives found that Freddy Batt came over to the home.
Once inside, police say he tried to rob the residents and demanded money and drugs.
An adult male who was being confronted produced a firearm and shot Mr. Batt.
Following the shooting, the male, his girlfriend, and their two infant children left the residence to get help.
Those individuals are not being named because no charges have been filed at this point.
