Former Florida Rep. Peter Deutsch announced Monday he is backing former President Donald Trump this November, saying President Joe Biden has failed in his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

The remark came during a Republican National Convention press call. Participants on that call shared their thoughts amid the one-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel.

Deutsch, who is Jewish, said he felt strongly about his decision to support Trump given the former president's peace through strength policies.

“I feel very comfortable today publicly announcing that I’m endorsing Donald Trump to be reelected as president,” he said. “I’m planning on voting for him on November 5th. I take this decision very, very seriously. I also feel 100% comfortable with this decision.”

Continuing, the former congressman said the most important factor at stake in the election will be world peace. This, he said, is the only way to quell ongoing conflicts and animosity.

“I think that Kamala Harris and the Harris-Biden administration, in terms of what they have done and what they are doing make the world a dramatically less safe place,” Deutsch said. “It’s not just about what is happening in the Middle East, it’s about the homeland.”

Deutsch accused the Biden-Harris administration of defending Iran's attack on Israel last week, though the White House issued a statement Monday reaffirming "Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and Iran."

“There is an extraordinary clear choice, that I hope every American will come to the same conclusion I have, that President Trump should become the next president of the United States,” he added.

The former representative is not the only major Democrat to voice strong support for Israel amid the war. Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Monday also reaffirmed his support for the Jewish state, adding he has sought to be a “moral” and “consistent” voice on the year-long conflict.

“I’ve tried to be a very consistent and moral voice throughout all this, and I can promise you that’s not gonna change until everyone’s brought back home and there’s peace back in that region,” the lawmaker said. “I’m so sorry for this terrible and traumatic anniversary, but we stand with you here in Washington, D.C.”

Democratic Mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan Amer Ghalib in September also made waves by endorsing Trump, saying “President Trump and I may not agree on everything, but I know he is a man of principles.”
