GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - First Alert issued Wednesday for the mountains, Thursday for all due to coldest air of the season so far leading to frost and freeze concerns.

First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Wednesday morning for the mountains, Thursday morning for everyone as we’re expected to feel some of the coldest air of the season so far.

Wednesday morning temperatures are expected in the 40s Upstate, mid-30s in the mountains. Not only will temperatures be not far from freezing in the mountains, with breezy conditions expected it could feel even colder - wind chill values potentially in the upper 20s to low 30s. This brings concern for those in this area, especially those still without power.

Wake up temperatures Thursday are still expected to be in the low-mid 30s in the mountains, falling to mid-upper 30s Upstate. This brings concerns for pets and plants. Action needs to be taken Wednesday, including: bringing sensitive plants indoors or covering with a burlap sack, as well as bringing outdoor pets inside.

A disturbance brings a chance for precipitation to the TN/NC line, bringing the potential for a few light rain or possibly snow showers at the higher elevations.

Low temperatures continue to drop mid-week, with lows in the upper 30s to low 40s across the Upstate and low-mid 30s in the mountains. Highs falling to the 60s across the Upstate during this time, 50s in the mountains. We’ll be watching the potential for frost in the Upstate Thursday and freezing temps in the mountains.
