SEATTLE (WKRC) - A police department lost nearly two dozen guns and aren't sure where they went.
Seattle cops conducted an internal audit of the missing weapons after nearly two dozen guns were lost in eight years, according to New York Post.
“We’re going to do our best to ensure that we do better,” said Patrick Michaud, a department spokesperson, according to New York Post. “Until we find them, we’re going to keep looking for them.”
The 23 vanished firearms belonged to training units, the department's firing range or individual officers. Some of the guns have been missing since 2017.
Police said they entered the gun's serial numbers in the National Crime Information Center so they would be notified if the firearms were found somewhere else.
One gun was taken in 2019 by a teenager when he waltzed out the door of a training building with an officer's handgun, according to New York Post. In another incident, officers had stored guns in a metal cabinet that had been designed to store office supplies.
