AND I WANT TO SHOW YOU THE AREA A LITTLE BIT BEHIND ME. THAT’S THE MANAGER’S OFFICE. AND THEN OVER THERE BEHIND THESE TREES, THAT IS WHERE THERE IS A ROW OF RV CAMPERS. ACCORDING TO THE AFFIDAVIT OF PROBABLE CAUSE FOR BOND IN BENTON COUNTY, 21 YEAR OLD DARIAN TYLER URBAN AND 20 YEAR OLD SHAILENE FAITH ELLERS, BOTH OF ROGERS, TOLD SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES THEY SIGNED A DOCUMENT THAT GAVE AWAY THE CUSTODY OF THEIR TWO MONTH OLD BABY IN EXCHANGE FOR A SIX PACK OF BEER AND A $1,000 CASHIER’S CHECK. THE REPORT SAYS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21ST, THEY VIDEOTAPED THE SIGNING OF THIS AGREEMENT AND WOULD, QUOTE, LEGALIZE IT ON MONDAY. DEPUTIES ALSO MET ANOTHER MAN AT THE CAMPGROUND WHO REPORTED THE PARENTS GAVE HIM THE BABY FOR THE NIGHT. POLICE SAY THAT MAN APPEARED HEAVILY INTOXICATED. THE BENTON COUNTY PROSECUTOR SAYS CO-DEFENDANTS URBAN AND ELDERS BOTH FACED TWO CHARGES FOR ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A MINOR AND ATTEMPT TO COMMIT CONSIDERATION FOR RELINQUISHING A MINOR FOR ADOPTION. THE PROSECUTOR SAYS THE BABY IS NOW IN THE CARE OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES. ACCORDING TO THE BENTON COUNTY JAIL. URBAN BONDED OUT THIS MORNING FOR $5,000, AND ELDERS IS STILL IN JAIL. AND HER BOND IS SET FOR $30,000

      Two people have been arrested and are accused of trying to sell their 2-month-old baby for a six-pack of beer and $1,000 at a Hide-A-Way campground in Benton County, according to a probable cause report. Darien Urban, 21, and Shalene Ehlers, 20, the parents of the baby, were arrested by the Benton County Sheriff's Office and are facing charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to commit consideration for relinquishing a minor for adoption. The prosecutor said the baby is now in the care of the Arkansas Department of Human Services. Documents state that deputies responded to the campground after a person called saying that the parents of a 2-month-old baby were trying to sell the child for a six-pack of beer and a cashier's check for $1,000. The person also said the baby was in need of medical attention. When deputies arrived, the parents were not at the campground, and the baby was taken to a hospital. According to the affidavit, witnesses showed investigators a letter that stated the parents intended to sign over their rights to the child. A witness also had cellphone video of the couple signing the letter.Witnesses said that the baby had been given to someone at the campground in exchange for beer, and then later, the baby was passed off to another person for money, but payment was not actually given.Urban and Ehlers, who are now in custody, were interviewed and stated that the baby was with the person who "adopted" it.
