LENA, Ill. (WREX) – On September 5, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., deputies from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit apprehended 38-year-old Collin Zier of Lena.
The arrest took place without incident at a residence in the 800 block of Virginia Avenue, Lena, Illinois.
Zier was taken into custody on a felony arrest warrant issued the same day for one count of child pornography (moving depiction), related to alleged incidents occurring in June 2024.
He is currently held at the Stephenson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The arrest followed a report from an official with the Orangeville School District (#203), who raised concerns about a district employee communicating with a student outside of school through a non-approved platform.
The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division promptly launched an inquiry into the matter.
Authorities believe there may be additional current or former Orangeville School District students who have not yet been interviewed but might have information relevant to the investigation.
