Infant's body found at Lake Ft. Phantom, police remind citizens of Safe Haven Baby Box

After an infant's dead body was foundat Lake Ft. Phantom Saturday, Abilene police are reminding citizens about the new Safe Haven Baby Drop-Off box.

The Safe Haven Baby Box is located at Abilene's Fire Station #7 onN Pioneer Drive. The baby box provides an option for parents to safely surrender their infant safely and anonymously.

Police said Tuesday that an infant's body was found around 9 p.m. Saturday at Lake Ft. Phantom near Sea Bee Park.

Abilene Police Department posted a video on social media detailing the incident.

"At this time, that infant is not identified," said lead investigator Detective Scott. "She was sent for an autopsy in Dallas, Texas, where they were able to determine it was a little girl."

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning and the incident is still under investigation.

"At this time, I'm seeking any and I information regarding her death, which is suspicious in nature," said Det. Scott. "Please contact me or Crime Stoppers, to provide that information."
