CAPTURED: Undocumented man accused of kidnapping, raping 13-year-old girl at knifepoint
KENNER, La. (WVUE) - Kenner police have arrested 23-year-old Diego Rodriguez-Salvador, accused of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl.
Police say the victim was attacked on the south side of the city Tuesday night in the Veterans Heights subdivision. She was allegedly taken to a trailer where she was raped at knifepoint. When she returned home, she told her parents, who called the police.
Police say Rodriguez-Salvador has an undocumented status in the United States, and investigators with Homeland Security are assisting.
“This man’s a coward. Overpowered a 13-year-old girl. As a father I’m saddened, and as police chief, I’m furious,” said Conley.
The suspect is a known acquaintance of the victim’s family. He surrendered after officers found his vehicle in New Orleans East.

Neighbors say this crime comes as a shock and makes them want to hold loved ones a little closer.
“I have a daughter and I’m scared to let her out, to play. It’s crazy. Never heard of that around here,” said neighbor Rene Garcia.
Rodriguez-Salvador faces one count each of second-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape of a juvenile.
Conley says the victim is receiving counseling.
