Reagan Reviews
Well, unfortunately if you are a Republican it’s 5 star and if you’re Democrat then 1 star. I am a bit of both and enjoyed this movie. There were a couple embellishments, but there are in every Biopic. Thought that the cast did an outstanding job. Reagan led a pretty incredible life, and did some incredible things in office. Definitely worth a watch.
worst fan fiction ever
Terribly made boomer fluff lacking any kind of compelling story telling.
Junk. I assume this was made for the 2024 election campaign. In opposition to stuff made by the Democrats. It’s also dreadful. The approval ratings must be Republican hard core. There is a good movie to be made about Reagan. This ain’t it.
Phenomenal movie with an outstanding all star cast! Dennis Quaid absolutely knocked it out of the park, very surprised he was not nominated for best actor for this role. Anyone who said this was not a good movie was (without a doubt) being intellectually dishonest, it absolutely is a great movie and extremely well acted.
Flawless characterization of one of our finest Presidents ever.
I fell asleep watching it. I'm not affiliated to any political party and my vote changes often so I consider myself to not to be politically biased. So, personally, it looks to me like the movie tries to idealize Reagan and to make his lovers watch it because they loved him and his haters to watch it because they hated him. The unfortunate current "let's take advantage of division" way of thinking...
If you're godless Commie, you won't like it.. Being from less than 20 miles from Reagan's hometown. I loved it! 🇺🇸America First🇺🇸
A nice biopic of the Gipper tod from the... Kremlin
How this great film gets an 18 on Rottemn Tomatoes, and the new Snow White which is a total bomb gets 40 is beyond understanding.
Watched it on on Starz. I remember the time of Reagan's rise and thoroughly enjoyed the depiction of what happened.
Great movie not sure why the critics didn't like it
I came in hoping for Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! and left with Mr. Reagan, tear up this script! Look, I love the idea of the movie. I love Reagan. I love history. But this was the corniest film I’ve ever sat through — and I’ve seen every Hallmark Christmas movie featuring time-traveling princes, snowball fight montages, and cookie competitions. Reagan somehow topped them all in cheese. The acting? Imagine if a high school drama class did a presidential biopic but half the cast forgot their lines and the other half were just trying not to laugh. Every time someone said “Ron,” I expected canned laughter to play. Nancy Reagan looked like she was auditioning for a Lifetime reboot of I Love Lucy. It was like they poured an actual bucket of patriotism over the script, then baked it in the sun until it hardened into a red-white-and-blue Jell-O mold. Inspirational? Maybe. Accurate? Kind of. Entertaining? Only if you’re watching it with friends and a bingo card labeled “Cringey One-Liners,” “Dramatic Music Cue,” and “Unintended Laugh.” Final verdict: 2 out of 5 jelly beans. One for Reagan himself, one for effort — and nothing for the casting director.
Wish they had more 80s visualization but overall, I enjoyed it
Being a Regan biopic, I found it questionable, to say the least, for the first scenes following the opening credits to be of Soviets discussing Reagan and their plans for him and the U.S... via Hollywood... from the perspective of a Russian. The voice over narration via a Russian accented voice was annoying throughout. A film about the cold war may have been the better approach with the given material. A scene of Ronald Reagan eating shrimp may have made the whole thing better. Still, it’s better than 45/47.
The type of story written by a mom about her only child. “He’s so handsome,” “He never lies,” “He’s so talented,” and “He’s so perfect.” All the other parents watching the film are rolling their eyes. A real, honest look at this man would have been more compelling and interesting. Or just give the guy a red, white, and blue cape and make him fly.
I was never a huge Ronald Reagan supporter during his presidency, but this film not only captures the flavor of the man and the times, but technically it’s just an outstanding film. How RT’s “Top Critics” got this so wrong only underscores how partisan and biased this site can be. Shame on them. Strictly speaking from a historical, entertainment perspective, the film maker/director got it all right. The script is accurate, fair and sensitive to both Reagan’s supporters and his critics. The actors deliver outstanding performances, the art director and costumers set the mood perfectly and the cinematographer has an eye for detail that is a throw back to old time film making without relying too much on CGI or green screen to fill in the story. At every level this is a wonderful film for the audience and history student. Don’t worry about the Critics the audience got this one right. Bravo!!
I feel in this film they just showed the the parts that truely glorified reagan for the most part . they didnt touch on the Aids issues or other parts that didnt paint reagan in a good light .
Wonderful movie depicting one of our best, President Ronald Reagan.
This is an awful movie filled with performances, makeup, filmmaking, screenwriting, etc that are all completely embarrassing. If you're a fan of Ronald Reagan and his Presidency, you should want and expect something better than this turgid hagiography. Also - enough with these biopics that cover entire lives, its basically a 2 1/2 montage of highlights.
