MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A Mid-South man's search for his beloved dog after a carjacking at gunpoint is over.

Hershey the dog has been found in the Raleigh area, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO).

Hershey was found just before 8 a.m. on Thursday in the area of Waverly Farms, just north of Shelby County.

The deputies contacted the owner, Zachary Murphree, and successfully reunited Hershey with him.

The carjacking happened at a gas station on the 6100 block of Summer Ave overnight Saturday. 

Murphree was pumping gas at a Shell gas station on Summer Avenue just when his Hershey was inside his black 2006 Chevy Silverado.

Memphis Police said that the two suspects told the victim they ran out of gas.

Records showed the victim tried helping the two suspects by filling up his gas jug. Instead of saying thank you, the thieves started beating the victim with an AK-47, demanding the keys to his vehicle.

As of now, the suspects are still on the run.
