CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The suspect in the stabbing at a North Olmsted Giant Eagle has been indicted on an aggravated murder charge in Cuyahoga County.

Cuyahoga County prosecutor Michael O’Malley announced Wednesday that Bionca Ellis has been indicted by a grand jury.

Ellis is accused in the Monday afternoon stabbing of three-year-old Julian Wood and his mother, 37-year-old Margot Wood.

“This case is truly devastating. I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the Wood family during this difficult time,” said O’Malley. “As a father, I could not begin to imagine this grief, but I can promise that we will do everything in our power to bring justice for Julian Wood and the Wood family.”

Court officials say Ellis stole two knives from the North olmsted Volunteers of America Thrift Store before walking to the Giant Eagle next door.

As Ellis entered the Giant Eagle, she spotted the victim and her 3-year-old child, Julian Wood, exiting the store. Ellis followed them and immediately stabbed the 3-year-old, located in the shopping cart, multiple times. His mother attempted to pull him out and was also stabbed.

Ellis’s arraignment date in the Cuyahoga County Justice Center will be Monday, June 10.
