(WPDE) — Gov. McMaster signed the Constitutional Carry bill into law on Thursday afternoon, a day after it was sent to his desk.
The bill means that anyone 18 and older can openly carry loaded handguns without a permit or training.

Guns would still be banned in the same places they are now, including schools, courthouses, and government buildings, and people could still obtain a concealed weapons permit if they wanted. The bill goes further to ban them at polling places on election day and daycare centers.
McMaster said the bill also creates increased penalties for illegal gun use and possession.
The bill was sent to McMaster's desk on Wednesday after the Senate worked out a compromise with the House.
South Carolina is the 29th state in the country with Constitutional Carry.
