(WMC) - A popular Raleigh musician, known as Slick Rick is still recovering at the Regional Medical Center after being shot outside his mother's club over two weeks ago.

Ricky Buchanan says he never lost consciousness after being shot outside The Stage Stop in Raleigh.

"Two guys with bandanas ran down the wall with pistols and opened fire. I didn't even have a dollar on me," said Buchanan.

Buchanan remembers running inside The Stage Stop and falling to the floor moments after being shot.

"I laid down as soon as I ran back into the club, laid down, and said I'm going into shock and about to die. I've been shot," he said.

Buchanan says he'd just given last call inside. He then walked out into the parking lot to make sure it was safe for customers to leave.

He says that's when two young men ran up demanding money.

"I prayed for them already, and I think that's when my nightmares quit when I started praying for them. That's the toughest prayer I prayed I think," said Buchanan.

Buchanan says the bullet is still lodged in his liver. He still has a drain tube in his abdomen.

Buchanan says it's possible he could go home this week.

"Man, most precious thing on earth is that little breath of air," he said.

Just after the shooting, a vigil was held at The Stage Stop. Buchanan says he's thankful for the hundreds of people who've shown him love and support.

"Like I said, I knew my mama was special. I just work for her. But, like, my friend who just left here said, 'You made me what we are. We believe in what we do. So, we gonna keep on doing what we do,'" said Buchanan.

Memphis police believe the suspects in this shooting left the scene in a small green car, possibly a Honda.

No arrests have been made. If you have any information that can help police, call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH or go to the Crime Stoppers website here: http://memphis.crimestoppersweb.com/.
