Man stabbed to death on SEPTA platform in Kensington, police say

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man was stabbed to death on a SEPTA subway platform Monday morning in North Philadelphia.

It happened at Somerset Station along the Market-Frankford Line shortly before 9 a.m.

SEPTA Transit Police released surveillance images of the suspect. He was last seen wearing a gray Nike hoodie and red gloves, and carrying a light blue backpack.

Police responded to a call at the station on Kensington Avenue and found the victim on the westbound platform with a stab wound to the chest. The 30-year-old was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Around 12:45 p.m., police said they had a man in custody and a weapon was recovered. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call SEPTA Transit Police at 215-580-8111.
