COFFEE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — An Enterprise man is currently being held without bond in Coffee County after police charged him with the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

On Monday, March 25, 23-year-old Pablo Mendoza was arrested by Enterprise Police and charged with rape in the first degree.

According to a complaint filed in the Coffee County court system on the day of his arrest, Mendoza had sex with a fourteen-year-old girl who could not consent due to her being “physically helpless or mentally incapacitated.” The alleged crime occurred on Tuesday, February 20.

Sheriff Scott Byrd tells WDHN that Mendoza is in the United States illegally.

Mendoza is being held in the Coffee County Jail without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing with Judge Joshua Wilson.

Sheriff Byrd says once Mendoza’s case is finished in Alabama, he will be deported back to his home country by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
