The small Mexican family restaurant is located in Fruitvale and MacArthur Oakland CA, run by my parents Liz Sanchez and Tony De Los Reyes. My parents are first generation Mexican immigrants that moved to America from Mexico Jalisco in 2011 in which the twin towers were attacked. From the very start since my parents immigrated to the United States, they have worked multiple jobs, 24/7 my mother would work during the night and my dad during the day. There were countless circumstances in which I almost lost them, and I am grateful that I still have them, and that they have persevered through all their hardships. Due to their sacrifices and their hard work they have had enough money to buy a restaurant called Cybelle’s pizza. They first started in downtown Oakland for one year in 2018 and then they moved to Fruitvale and MacArthur in 2019 in which many of our customers have love that place ever since they were little kids. All those customers have been so surprised that the place was still open even after their childhood, which we welcome them with open arms and make sure that their service is as great as possible so that they remember that warmth that they felt when they were younger.
As most of you know, in the recent month, we have been robbed and burglarized about 4 to 5 times already the robbers have taken many supplies. For example they have taken our registers and have caused damaged such as taking off the ventilation controls and breaking the glass door multiple times. The robbers even took the safe with some money in there. We cant keep investing on repares for the shop. It’s getting to a point that we can’t keep paying for the restaurant as well. We are asking you if you could please help us, we are falling slowly into debt. During the attack my dad was threaten at gunpoint and we almost lost him. I am grateful that I still have him with me and our family. They have attacked some of the other workers in previous robbery attacks. It has come to the point where our workers had to defend themselves even thought they were frightened because help wasn’t getting there on time and because Oakland it’s not that safe anymore.
