LAKE COUNTY. A TEENAGER IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER A HOMEOWNER SHOT HIM DURING A BREAK IN AS WESH BOB HAZEN TELLS US, POLICE BELIEVE. HE MAY BE LINKED TO SIMILAR CASES AT A DIFFERENT HOME NEARBY. THIS IS A PRETTY LARGE NEIGHBORHOOD HERE IN MASCOT AND POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT IN THIS WHO WAS SHOT MAY HAVE TRIED TO BREAK INTO AT LEAST TWO HOMES HERE. THIS HAPPENED EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AROUND 6:00 IN THE MORNING. MASCOT POLICE SAY THEY WERE CALLED TO A HOME ON PINE NEEDLE DRIVE IN THE WEST CARDINAL PINES NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE OF A HOME INVASION. WHEN THEY GOT HERE, THEY FOUND A 16 YEAR OLD BOY WHO HAD BEEN SHOT. INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT BOY WAS THE SUSPECT IN THE HOME INVASION, AND HE’D BEEN SHOT BY THE HOMEOWNER. THE PEOPLE IN THE HOUSE WERE NOT HURT. POLICE SAY THEY ARE COOPERATING WITH THE INVESTIGATION, SO THEY ARE NOT FACING ANY CHARGES.
