Scottish Labour today confirmed Graham had been suspended by the party pending the outcome of police inquiries into alleged grooming.

Graham, 41, a councillor for Buckhaven, Methil and Wemyss Villages, is a member of the Fife Council cabinet and spokesperson  for health and social care.

He is also the authority's representative for council umbrella body Cosla, Fife Community Safety Partnership, and Fife Alcohol & Drug Partnership.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to grooming offences following an investigation in Fife.

“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court at a later date.

“Further enquiries are ongoing.”

It’s understood public bodies including NHS Fife, Fife Council and the Labour Party were informed of Graham’s arrest under a disclosure process triggered by the police action.

Graham has been a councillor since 2012, and previously worked as a parliamentary assistant to Labour MSP Claire Baker.

A source said: “He’s been arrested and various bodies were notified at the end of last week as part of a disclosure process.”

Graham and NHS Fife have been approached for comment.

Fife Council's head of legal and democratic services Lindsay Thomson said: "We are aware of an ongoing Police Scotland investigation involving a Fife councillor.

"As this is a live case we cannot comment further on the individual circumstances."
