Firefighters from several different agencies are continuing to battle a wildfire that's burned 3,000 acres and growing in size near Medical Lake. Level 3 evacuations, meaning GO NOW, have been issued for to the area west of Gray Road, north of I-90, and east of Murphy Road, and south of SR 902. Level 2 evacuations -- meaning BE READY TO LEAVE AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE -- are in place for residents living east of I-90, west of Graham Road, north of Barker Road and south of Salnave. All evacuations for the city of Cheney have been canceled. The Washington Department of Health has issued a boil water order for all residents of Medical Lake and Strathview, as the wildfire has affected water treatment and pumping operations at city facilities. The order will remain in effect until further notice. A shelter for evacuees has been moved to Spokane Falls Community College (3410 W Whistalks Wy). The shelter has been moved from Cheney High School. Spokane County evacuees can also go to another shelter at Riverside High School (3410 W Whitstalks Way). ROAD CLOSURES: I-90 is currently closed from US 2 to Tyler. State Route 904 from Cheney-Spokane Road to I-90/Four Lakes, and all of SR 902 is closed. There is no ETA to reopen any of the roads. The fire has already torn through some neighborhoods, and has burned multiple homes to the ground. Guy Gifford with the Department of Natural Resources says everyone living near the evacuations should leave and get their pets and animals out safely. He says winds could move the fire in any direction so everyone in the area should be prepared. The Washington National Guard says they are on standby to help evacuate patients and staff from the Eastern State Hospital. The WA Department of Social and Health Services says they will continue to provide updates.
