About IEA PVPS

Enhance the international collaborative efforts which facilitate the role of photovoltaic solar energy as a cornerstone in the transition to sustainable energy systems.
The IEA PVPS programme aims to realise its mission through the following objectives related to reliable PV power system applications, contributing to sustainability in the energy system and a growing contribution to CO2 mitigation:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Enercity SA, European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), SolarPower Europe, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United States.

The IEA Photovoltaic Power Systems Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA PVPS TCP) conducts joint projects in the application of photovoltaic conversion of solar energy into electricity. Currently eight research projects, so-called Tasks, are established within the IEA PVPS Programme. The PVPS members select the Tasks they wish to contribute to and delegate their experts into the respective expert groups. Participation to the Task 1 “Strategic analysis and outreach” is mandatory for all members. The Tasks are managed by an Operating Agent (OA) organization within one of the member countries. The PVPS Tasks execute multi-year workplans of several hundred person-months of effort resulting in various outputs such as reports, books, databases, online tools, events, etc.

The IEA PVPS TCP reports the activities of its collaborative R&D projects in an Annual Report. The Annual Report also provides a general overview of the state of play of photovoltaics in the different member countries and organizations.

The work, organization and management of the IEA PVPS TCP and its various Tasks is overseen by the IEA PVPS Executive Committee, or ExCo, constituted by delegates from each member country or organization.

The Australian PV Institute is contracted as the official secretariat of IEA PVPS, including the provision of financial accounts management.
