Sandy Springs Homeowner Fatally Shoots Intruder To Protect Family: PD

Police said the intruder threatened the homeowner, who then shot and killed the intruder to keep his family from being hurt.

SANDY SPRINGS — A homeowner aiming to protect his family from an intruder shot and killed a man accused of breaking into a Spalding Drive house Sunday, Sandy Springs Police said Monday.

Police said the fatal shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. The unidentified man was accused of threatening to harm the homeowner, police said.

Another resident notified authorities, but before police arrived, police said the homeowner shot the man to defend himself and his family from being hurt.

When officers arrived, they found the man dead from his injuries, police said.

Police said the shooting was isolated, and detectives are continuing to investigate. It is unknown if there are any charges in the case.
