Levi Williams Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State graduate junior quarterback Levi Williams has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 26. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
With its sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
Williams, a 6-foot-5, 230-pounder from Canyon Lake, Texas (Smithson Valley HS/Wyoming), was making his first start in his two-year Utah State career, led the Aggies to a 44-41 double-overtime win at New Mexico to become bowl eligible. Against the Lobos, Williams accounted for 351 yards of offense and five touchdowns, including both of USU's scores in overtime.
 
Williams posted his third-career 100-yard rushing game, including his first at Utah State, as he gained a season-high 153 yards on a career-high 25 carries and scored a season-high three touchdowns.
 
Overall, Williams is just the eighth quarterback in school history to rush for 100 yards as his 153 rushing yards are the second-most by a quarterback in program history. Furthermore, Williams' 25 rushing attempts are a school record for a quarterback, while his three rushing touchdowns are tied for the most in school history by a quarterback.
 
Williams third rushing touchdown occurred in the second overtime on a broken play as he dropped the snap and then rushed 13 yards for the winning score. Williams also scored on a 6-yard run in the first overtime and added a 29-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
 
Williams was also 16-of-27 passing for 198 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the game as both of his touchdown passes came in the first quarter from 13 and 57 yards.
 
His touchdowns responsible for (5) are tied for the most in the MW this season, while his rushing yards (153), rushing attempts (25) and rushing touchdowns (3) are the most by a MW quarterback this year.

MEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior wing Great Osobor (Bradford, England) was named the MVP at the Cayman Islands Classic after leading Utah State to the tournament title with wins against Marshall (83-60), Akron (65-62) and Stephen F. Austin (79-49). Against Akron, Osobor recorded a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, while logging two assists and one block, and shooting 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the field and 100.0 percent (2-of-2) at the free throw line. Against SFA, he recorded 14 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, three steals and two assists, while shooting 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from the field. Over the last two games of the Classic, Osobor averaged 19.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 58.6 percent (17-of-29) from the floor.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior guard Cheyenne Stubbs (Bradenton, Florida) helped Utah State to a 1-1 record last week with a 52-51 loss at UC Riverside and a 66-54 home win against Warner Pacific. Against the Highlanders, she scored 15 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. And against the Knights, she scored a season-high 23 points, while adding five rebounds four assists and two steals. For the week, she averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals, while shooting 51.7 percent (15-29), including 42.9 percent (3-of-7) from 3-point range, and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) at the free throw line.
 
VOLLEYBALL – Junior opposite side hitter Adna Mehmedovic (Peoria, Arizona) led Utah State with a team-high-tying 14 kills after hitting a match-best 57.1 percent (14-2-21) in the Aggies' semifinal loss to Fresno State (3-1) in the Mountain West Championship. She also logged three blocks in the match.
