LOS ANGELES, CA —A 36-year-old homeless woman broke into a home in Los Angeles and shot and killed the man who lived there, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Tuesday.
Police arrested Jameelah Elena Michl on suspicion of killing a 33-year-old man Monday night at his home in the 900 block of Alandele Avenue.
According to the LAPD, at about 6 p.m. Monday, Michl broke into the home in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles.
"When officers arrived, they discovered the resident of the home had been shot by an intruder, the LAPD said in a written release. "Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries."
His name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
Responding officers found the intruder still inside the home. It wasn't immediately clear what lead up to the shooting or if Michl and the slain man had a prior relationship.
Michl is being held on a $3 million bail. According to investigators, she lives in her vehicle, which was taken into evidence.
