Sixty people arrested after unrest at Russia's Dagestan airport
Sixty people were detained after hundreds of anti-Israel protesters stormed an airport in Russia's predominantly Muslim Dagestan region on Sunday, the RIA news agency reported on Monday, citing local investigators.
The most active participants among the protesters, around 150 in number, had their identities established. Nine police officers sustained injuries during the incident, with two of them receiving treatment at a hospital.
On Sunday, Makhachkala airport in Russia's Dagestan was besieged by hundreds of protesters opposing Israel, following the arrival of a plane from the country.

Notably, the disruption took place following the arrival of Flight WZ4728 from Tel Aviv, landing in Makhachkala at 7 pm (1600 GMT) on Sunday. It was reported that this was a transit flight scheduled to depart for Moscow two hours later. Videos circulated on social media and were covered by Russian news outlets, including RT and Izvestia, showing protesters breaching security, with some gaining access to the runway and shouting "Allahu Akbar."
