Pollack 300 Day Hall Comell University aca, NY 14853, President Pollack, 11am deeply disturbed by the continued reports of antisemitism and the targeting of Jewish students at my alma mater Comell Univesity. ‘As you are aware, lat right threats were posted online against the Center of Jewish Living located on campus, with calls to follow a Jewish person home and "slit their threats” adding, "Rats ced to be eliminated fiom Corll.” After tis latest grotesque attack on Jewish students, you released a statement saying in part that, “we will not tolerate aniisemitism at Comell." | pray that you are serious about the university's position on antisemitism, but I find it hard to believe considering justdays before these threats, Comell Associated Professor of History Russell Rickford said tat he was “exhilarsted” and "energized” by the Oct. 7 Hamas teror attacks in Israel Friends and alumnus were not only shocked to hear such vile language ftom a ember ofthe ‘Comell family, but I was shocked further to find out he is currently on leave and as nat been ‘immediately terminated. Asan alumnus of Comell University and as a member of Congress, Iam asking for the ‘university to immediately detail the steps it has undertaken to protect Jewish students on campus, to provide written guidance to the staff on the use of antisemitic language, and to publicly declare the employment status of Russel Rickford, Is Rickford on paid administrative leave otis he on unpaid leave? Ifeither are true, i it the intention ofthe university to terminate this person pending an investigation of his actions during a rally in Ithaca, New York on October 17? ‘await your prompt response to this urgent matter and expeet that a a premier institut ‘will adopt and enforce a zero tolerance policy for threats against Jewish students calls for ‘Violence, and for praising the actions of the terrorist organization known as Hamas. you ‘Thank you fee your attention to this very serious matter. ‘Regards, Wesley P.
