ONE PLACE ON THE WVTM 13 APP. BACK TO SENATOR TOMMY TUBERVILLE RESPONDING TO WHAT HE SAYS IS A CALL FOR VIOLENCE BY GENERAL MICHAEL HAYDEN’S COMMENTS. HE MADE THIS REMARK ON SOCIAL MEDIA. SOMEONE ASKED IF TUBERVILLE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM A SENATE COMMITTEE. HAYDEN RESPONDED SAYING, QUOTE, HOW ABOUT THE HUMAN RACE? I THINK THAT’S REALLY CROSSING THE LINE. THIS IS A FORMER CIA DIRECTOR, FORMER NSA DIRECTOR OF GENERAL OF OUR MILITARY THAT’S CALLED FOR THE ASSASSINATION OF A SITTING SENATOR. I DON’T CARE IF IT’S ME, JUST ANYBODY. BUT HERE’S A GUY THAT’S CROSSING THE LINE AND POINTING AT SOME POSSIBLE HARM TO UNITED STATES SENATOR. AND IT’S WRONG. IN RESPONSE, GENERAL HAYDEN SAYS HE WAS SURPRISED THAT SO MANY PEOPLE DIDN’T LIKE HIS SUGGESTION.

Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville is speaking out on a tweet that he says is a call for his "assassination" by the former director of the CIA.On Monday, an account on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted the question, "should Tommy Tuberville be removed from his committee," to which former General Michael Hayden responded, "How about the human race?"Gen. Hayden is a retired four-star general from the U.S. Air Force who previously led both the NSA and CIA.In response, Sen. Tuberville's office reported the comment to Capitol Police, with Tuberville himself calling for Hayden's prosecution.“This morning my office was made aware of a statement made by General Michael Hayden calling for a politically motivated assassination," said Tuberville. "This statement is disgusting and it is repugnant to everything we believe in as Americans. Given General Hayden’s long career in Washington, he must have known that, by making such a statement, he was committing a serious crime. His own efforts today to reinterpret what he said are only a tacit admission of guilt. If we still have a nonpolitical justice system in this country, then General Hayden will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."During a sit down with WVTM 13's Ian Reitz, Sen. Tuberville reiterated his thoughts on the comment."I think that's crossing the line," Tuberville said. "Former CIA, NSA general calling for the assassination of a sitting senator. I don't care if it's me. Here is a guy who's crossing the line and pointing at harm to a senator, and it's wrong."On Tuesday, Hayden responded to the backlash, clarifying his initial post and stating that he stands by his view before wishing Sen. Tuberville a nice day. This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
