California to Texas Migration Intensifies

This data is a little stale. I suspect the trend may be greater now.

StorageCafe reports California to Texas Migration Intensifies

  • California to Texas is the most popular interstate relocation route in the U.S., only challenged by New York to Florida, with 93K people making the move
  • 2021 was a record-breaking year in terms of California to Texas move-ins, with roughly 111,000 people taking the route
  • In 2021, about 1 in 2 people who migrated from CA to TX were millennials

According to data from the American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates, the number of people leaving the Golden State for the Lone Star State has grown by 36 percent between 2016 and 2021 while the migration stream from all other states to Texas did not change, rising a mere 0.1 percent. Californians accounted for a little bit more than 15 percent of persons migrating to Texas from other states between 2017 and 2021.

Pay attention to wet bulb temperatures in Texas. That is the combination of heat and humidity. Anywhere above 93 WB and humans ( animals as well) cannot shed the heat of their own metabolism. You die. A/C is the only thing between you and death so pay close attention to the E grid as your life depends on it. Texas exodus coming up.

Is this the final UI? No “like” button? It’s kind of bare. Surely WordPress has addon’s that can give a better interface.

Oh, no! They’ll bring all their dadgum stupid politics with them and turn Texas into the great big disaster just like Dystopian CA.

BTW, it’s not just housing. No state income tax. Jobs that will pay you enough to afford housing. Friendly people (just ask Joe Rogan how much nicer people even in Austin are). On and on.

I lived in Texas and it was ok, beats most states. But definitely not #1 on my list, traffic is becoming a nightmare, suburban sprawl, outrageous “property taxes”, corrupt politicians.

People moving away know why they are leaving.

Sure, there are plenty of stupid people who don’t understand why California was destroyed- and they’re all moving to Austin and destroying that too, but with as much cheating happens in elections, people still show up to vote against idiocy. And the State government is strong enough to temper some of the stupidity- like threatening a property tax freeze for cities that tried to defund the police and stripping the city’s annexation powers, allowing communities to self-organize and leave the city at any time.

In San Antonio, the Democrats proposed Proposition A earlier this year and lumped in an attempt to circumvent state laws with abortion and marijuana decriminalization in an attempt to get people to blindly vote for progressive policies and push through catch-and-release under $750 for shoplifters. It still lost 28-72.

I saw something that projects California is going to have a $30 billion budget deficit this year. Mainly because of high income earners and businesses moving out of state. This seems to reinforce that.

Hope they leave their politics behind. Otherwise they’ll ruin wherever they move to.

I hope they all move here to Texas! Then, real estate prices will plummet there and I will escape this heat and head to the beach in San Diego!

I grew up in Texas – it’s a Hellhole filled with the stupidest people on God’s green earth (bless their hearts). I left at 23 and never went back – so if you want to go live in a hot, flat ugly state filled with stupid gun nuts just to save a few dollars, knock yourself out!
